New House, Empty Vessel…
What is so intriguing about an empty house? Well, this is what I’m about to explore. My parents recently were able to get financing for a manufactured home; a triple wide. Right now, they are living in what is called a double wide manufactured home, but it isn’t set up right for my dad who is in a wheelchair. So, after living here for quite a few years already, finally decided it was time to ‘expand’ a little. So, they started to explore the possibility of getting a larger home moved onto their property. After approximately two years, they finally received word that it was finally possible. So, thus is where we began.
So now, fast forward to the here and now, where the house has now been delivered and set up almost completely, there are a few inside and outside things to be done to it to completely finish it off, but it will still have no furniture and other things that make it appear ‘lived in’ so to speak. Well, they have that covered for the most part, but that won’t happen until ‘moving in day(s)’ start *grin*. Now you may ask, what about the opening line? Well, I’m getting to that. The intrigue of an empty house is that it can be symbolic of a great many things. One such thing is the woman without children; her womb more specifically. It, essentially, is an empty vessel. Until, of course, a child begins to grow inside it. Then it is something full of life. Which of course also brings a natural glow and essence of life to the vessel bearer also. There are several other symbolic analogies that can be made as well. Such as one’s own soul. When you don’t have something that creates ‘life’ within yourself, generally, most describe it as feeling ‘empty’. But, if you seek out those things that excite, or invigorate you; or create a sense of purpose; then most then would agree that you feel ‘filled up’, or complete while engaged in whatever activity creates this feeling for you. So you see, an empty house can be quite intriguing, and serve also as a reminder to do something worthwhile; something that makes you feel good about yourself, stay true to yourself, and you will be a lot happier.
So now, when my parents start to fill their new house, it will feel as if life has awaken and become alive again! They will feel ‘filled up’ with the satisfaction that they now have something that is ‘their own’. At the same time, they will be providing a place for me to feel the same way, and in a space that represents the same thing to me as well. So two-fold it will be a great experience all the way around!
Thanks for reading, cfn!
