Sunshine in my Soul
So, it finally is a little warmer here and very bright outside; I’m thinking, wow, it is about time!! Whenever it is warmer and sunshiny outside, it warms my soul a little also. I think because it brightens every dark nook and cranny that possibly could be lurking about, and it chases the winter blues far away.
This also gets me to thinking that there are ways we can each have ‘sunshine in our souls‘ even on the darkest night in the middle of winter; or on the brightest, warmest sunshiniest day of mid-summer. All we have to do, is go outside ourself; do something selfless. Something that does not require anything in return, not even necessarily a verbal ‘thank you’. When we do these things to one another, most of the time, we feel a sense of accomplishment, and that is usually something to each and every one of us. Also, we tend to forget, that when we do these things for others without the smallest hint of a thought of anything in return, we generally get intangible things in return ten fold. We may not even know they are things as a result of the original service act we provided in the first place. Also, these things don’t need to be even overt and openly noticed, a lot of times, it is the quiet acts of kindness that garner the most appreciation of all. To see a bright, wide grin/smile of gratitude often is plenty for the person giving of them self without hesitation.
Something else to think about in pursuit of gaining that ’sunshine’ for your soul. Politeness; everybody wants it, but no one seems willing to generate it them self. This brings to mind the phrase “Kindness begets kindness“; as well as the Golden Rule I eluded to in an earlier post. People seem to forget these things we have all been taught since the time we were all learning how to walk and talk. People are always in such a hurry nowadays to get to the next thing, that they forget that this is one of the best tools in their arsenal to get things done quicker when dealing with others. So many people decide not to do a task for another because they feel unappreciated simply because the other person was either down right rude, or, they just weren’t very polite at all…the ‘please’ and thank you’ does go along way to make someone feel comfortable and willing to do whatever it is you have asked of them. So why not do that? Why is it that people forget the one sure way to enhance your chances of getting exactly what you want? Do you think it shows weakness? In my book, it is most definitely a strength!! It shows your rearing, that you are a kind person, and that you care about what it is that you are wanting out of life and whatever it is that you are needing. Not to mention that whenever you use this tool, does it not bring a lightness to the other persons face? Why wouldn’t anyone want that? I know I would! No matter what it was I was wanting from that person. And it matters not whether you are in person, or online or even on the phone, just knowing within yourself that you portrayed yourself in the best possible light by being kind and polite should make you feel good about yourself; thus giving yourself your own ray of sunshine for your own soul! Who wouldn’t want that?? I say we all want it, so think about this…two major ways to have ‘sunshine in your soul‘…providing selfless service to others, and being polite and kind to one another.
Thanks for reading, now please have a nice day.
